In today’s world, many of us are overscheduled, tired and irritable before 3 o’clock comes around. Life can at times be hard, but it’s how you react that can keep your mood down or bring it up. Here are three tips for improving your mood:
- Jump, dance or shake your booty for 90 seconds: Releasing happy endorphins that pump through your body will help you to feel energized, happy and motivated. I recommend doing this with some uplifting music to get the full benefits!
- Take a 10-minute walk: Getting outside, soaking up some vitamin D from the sun and breathing in fresh air is a recipe for quickly improving your mood. Take a friend or co-worker with you. Talking with a friend outside of your regular environment can quickly boost your mood.
- Smile: Something as simple as putting a smile on your face may help you lower your blood pressure, reduce anxiety and put you into a better mood. A 2010 study found that making yourself smile when you’re feeling down helps improve your mood and increases positive thoughts. So, if you’re having a bad day, try smiling anyway—it may lead to a genuine smile.
